Before Site analysis
We walk the whole property, often several acres, and map outlets, long cable runs, outbuildings, and oaks before deciding where light is actually needed.

Site plan notes Initial consultation
With the site analysis in hand, you sit down with a designer and mark up the existing site plan: what should be lit, from the steps to the spa, and what should stay dark.

Lighting plan Conceptual design
The lighting goes onto the color plan with everything else. Every fixture gets a symbol, a model, and a count, so you can see exactly what will be lit before anything is ordered.

Rendering Final design
A rendering shows how the finished space will look and feel, string lights and all, so the lighting is judged in context instead of as a list of fixtures.

Long runs and voltage drop
On acreage, a cable run out to a gate or barn can be long enough that the last fixture burns dimmer than the first. We size the cable and use multi-tap transformers, or add a second transformer closer in, so every light matches.

Why outdoor lighting was drawn together with the rest of the property
Decking, drainage, utilities, planting, shade and lighting all bear on where a feature goes and how it gets built. Settling them on one set of drawings is what keeps conduit out of the wrong trench and stops paving being cut to fit afterward.

How do we keep landscape lighting dark-sky friendly in Templeton?
Use shielded fixtures aimed down, warm color around 2700K to 3000K, and timers or short-duration motion sensors so lights run only when someone is outside. Templeton is unincorporated, so San Luis Obispo County’s exterior lighting standards (Section 22.10.060 of the Land Use Ordinance) apply, and we check the current version for your parcel.
Do I need a permit for landscape lighting?
Low-voltage fixtures themselves usually are not the permit question. A new 120-volt outlet or circuit for the transformer usually is. We pull whatever the city or county requires through our in-house permitting department.
How long do LED landscape lights last?
Quality integrated LED fixtures are commonly rated for 30,000 to 50,000 hours, which is more than a decade of nightly use. Solid brass and copper bodies also outlast painted aluminum fixtures, especially near the coast.
Will you check on the system after it is installed?
Yes. We include a monitoring period after installation to check settings and aiming, and to confirm everything is working as designed.
