Small Space Woodland Escape
A wooded frontage rebuilt around a modern paver driveway, entry steps and low landscape lighting that does the work after dark.
How this project came together
The challenge
Driveway, flagstone entry, fence lines, elevation changes and the planting already in place. On a driveway-led job, finding the electrical panels, irrigation valves and hose bibs matters more than usual, because the new work has to fit around infrastructure that isn't going anywhere.
The design decision
The sketch settled exactly which areas would be paved and confirmed the materials. The homeowner and designer picked the pavers together and agreed on an ashlar pattern for the driveway and the flagstone entry both, so the two read as one surface instead of two separate decisions.
The build
The pavers went down in that ashlar pattern, with low-maintenance planting and dark shredded mulch keeping the front tidy, and step lights at the entry. The lighting plan covered placement and fixture type across the property, for safety and for how the house reads from the street.
From survey to buildable plan
Every project is measured, drawn, and approved before a shovel goes in the ground. These are the actual drawings for this property.

100%Base Plan
The base plan mapped out the full layout of the property, including the full driveway, flagstone entry, fence lines, elevation changes, and existing planting areas. Because this was a driveway-focused project, it was especially important to identify key utility placements such as electrical panels, irrigation valves, and hose bibs. This foundational plan ensured the new design could work seamlessly around existing infrastructure and hardscape features.

100%Design Proposals
The sketch outlined the exact areas to be paved and helped confirm material choices. The homeowner and designer collaborated on selecting the pavers and agreed on using an ashlar pattern for the driveway and flagstone entry combining functionality with a refined look.

100%Conceptual Plan
The conceptual plan showed the final layout using the selected pavers in the agreed ashlar pattern. Low-maintenance plantings were introduced, along with dark shredded mulch for the planter beds to keep the front yard neat and fresh. The design also included step lights at the front entry and outlined the placement and types of lighting throughout the property to enhance both safety and curb appeal.
The space, rendered in 3D
Homeowners approve a photorealistic model of their own property before construction starts, so what gets built is what they signed off on.
