A San Luis Obispo backyard where a boulder waterfall, a stone-lined spa, and curved flagstone paths turned an ordinary rear yard into a garden built around the sound of moving water.
Spa, decks, benches and concrete pads sat behind the house already, with walkways and patios in place. The length of the yard became the point of it: a sequence of garden spaces with curved flagstone and decomposed granite paths moving between them, and the spa and its seating at the middle.
