Estate Spanish Estate
A Spanish-style estate yard pulled together around its pool, fire-pit lounge and sport court, with the mature planting doing the screening.
How this project came together
The challenge
A spacious yard with a pool, spa and sport court already in it, mature planting all round, and concrete walks tying everything back to a central driveway. We located the drainage outlets, irrigation lines, hose bibs and panels, and mapped spot elevations for the grading.
The design decision
The sketch went after a layout that held together rather than a list of new features. A pergola marks a shaded gathering area, the dining and lounge space grew, and upgraded paving with decorative tile runs the continuity around the pool and seating. The existing trees stayed for the shade they already throw, with ferns, lavender and roses added underneath.
The build
The finished job works off the pool and spa that were there, with new hardscape, built-in seating and a BBQ island beside a pergola-shaded dining space. Gravel inlays, decorative borders and dark mulch add the depth. Artificial turf and grouped planting smooth the transitions between zones. Accent lighting picks out the paths, the planting and the house into the evening.

100%Design Proposals
This sketch plan illustrates the proposed upgrades and refinements for the property, emphasizing a more cohesive and functional outdoor layout. The design introduces a new pergola structure to define a shaded gathering area, paired with an expanded outdoor dining and lounge space for enhanced usability. Upgraded paving materials and decorative tile patterns create continuity around the pool and seating zones, while new planting layouts feature layered textures and colors for added depth and visual appeal. Select existing trees are preserved to maintain shade and maturity, complemented by the addition of fresh plantings such as ferns, lavender, and roses. Updated lighting and irrigation systems are integrated for convenience and ambiance, ensuring the redesigned landscape transitions seamlessly from day to night.
