Small Space Small Space Oasis
A narrow side yard fitted out with a plunge pool, a compact outdoor kitchen and covered dining — a full entertaining space in a footprint most people write off.
How this project came together
The challenge
A side yard, its access points and an AC unit. That was the whole site. At that size every square foot has to earn its keep, so the measuring stage was about what would genuinely fit, not what would be nice to have.
The design decision
Working off the survey, the homeowners and the designer sketched a fire pit, a pergola, an outdoor kitchen with a grill and beverage chiller, and a jar fountain. Those conversations built the layout around the limits of the site. The alternative is forcing a full-size scheme into a narrow space, and you can always tell when someone has.
The build
Planting, finishes and the outdoor kitchen were settled next, down to counter height and layout, with style options for the pergola, the wood fencing and the jar fountain.
From survey to buildable plan
Every project is measured, drawn, and approved before a shovel goes in the ground. These are the actual drawings for this property.

100%Base Plan
The base plan outlined the layout of the side yard, factoring in access points and existing elements like the AC unit. Because of the compact size, it was important to be intentional with every square foot. This stage helped the team strategize how to maximize the space and design a layout the homeowners could fully enjoy and use.

100%Design Proposals
Building from the base plan, the homeowners and designer worked together to bring the space to life. Early sketches included ideas for a firepit, pergola, outdoor kitchen with a grill and beverage chiller, and a jar fountain. These discussions helped shape the layout, address site limitations, and set a strong direction for the final design.
-
100%Conceptual Plan
The conceptual plan finalized the design details including selected plants, finishes, and outdoor kitchen specifications such as counter height and layout. It also included style options for the pergola, wood fencing, and jar fountain, bringing together all the design elements into one cohesive and personalized plan.
