Entertaining Poolside Paradise
A plain pool deck turned into a year-round entertaining wing with a covered pavilion, an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, and a natural-stone spa spilling into the pool.
How this project came together
The challenge
Concrete, lawn and patches of dirt around the house and attached garage. The pool, spa, BBQ area and curved walkways were already in, along with irrigation valves, hose bibs and outlets. Nobody was talking about putting in a pool here. The job was working out what to do with the one they had.
The design decision
We remodeled the pool and spa with new tile, coping and plaster, then rebuilt the yard around them: a built-in BBQ and pizza oven with seating, two pergolas, new step treads, new lawn, a water feature, paths that go where people actually walk, and reworked planting.
The build
The remodeled pool pairs with new decking, treads and coping, a BBQ island and a pergola for the shade. Pavers, decomposed granite and concrete steps make up the hardscape. Artificial turf and layered drought-tolerant beds keep the upkeep low. The lighting does two jobs at once: atmosphere, and getting from the house to the pool safely after dark.
From survey to buildable plan
Every project is measured, drawn, and approved before a shovel goes in the ground. These are the actual drawings for this property.
