Complete Backyard Luxury Lagoon
A graded dirt slope turned into a resort-style lagoon pool with a natural rock waterfall, a raised spa and tropical planting on every side.
How this project came together
The challenge
Big lot, awkward shape. The house, garage, concrete driveway and entry paths were already in, and everything else was dirt. The base plan gave us spot elevations, the slope, the property lines and the utility runs, and that's what decided where anything heavy could go.
The design decision
We took the whole yard as one job. On a lot this size that matters — build the pool first and plant around it afterward and you end up with a pool sitting in a field. New pool and spa with a raised wall, jets and a baja shelf, fed by the waterfall. Curved paths and tiered planting move you through it, and a fire pit and BBQ area at the far end give people somewhere to end up.
The build
Natural boulder groupings, curved paver patios and layered planting, with Japanese maples worked in among the drought-tolerant shrubs. An artificial turf lawn, fire pit, BBQ island and custom lighting finish it. We aimed the lights to keep the waterfall and the planting doing their job after dark, not just to light the path.
From survey to buildable plan
Every project is measured, drawn, and approved before a shovel goes in the ground. These are the actual drawings for this property.

100%Base Plan
This base plan outlines the main residence and garage situated on a large, irregularly shaped lot. The property includes existing concrete areas, including a driveway and entry paths, with the rest of the lot consisting primarily of dirt. Spot elevations, utility placements (electric panel, gas meter, hose bibs, and area drains), and property lines are clearly marked. The layout provides a clear starting point for design improvements, taking into account existing site conditions, slope, and available space for new landscape or structural features.
