When you live in Los Angeles, space is hard to come by. Especially if you want to be in the heart of all the action. Utilizing the space you do have is essential. This project was a great example of creating a dream outdoor space within the home owner’s budget and size constraints in mind.
This property had great bones; featuring a redwood garden fence and detached studio. The homeowners wanted to revitalize their backyard with lush drought- tolerant plants, a stone walkway, pool and outdoor lighting. The first step in every project is to create a design that surpasses the home owner’s expectations. The initial plan featured a custom pool, new planting, a stone walkway, redwood deck and a stone patio connected to the studio. The plan was rounded out with outdoor accent lighting and patio furniture.
After the plans and 3-D renderings were completed, it was time to break ground. The first step was to clear all the dead and over grown plants. From there, the demolition crew removed the concrete and cleared all debris- leaving an empty canvas to build upon. Separate, specialized crews worked simultaneously to build the pool and hardscapes. Once the pool, hardscapes deck and sod were installed, new landscape was planted along the pool and garden beds.
Secluded from the hustle and bussle of Los Angeles, this backyard space provides relaxation and seclusion to the homeowners. Although limited on space, this backyard boasts numerous features including a pool, garden, patio and redwood deck for outdoor dining. This project proves that if you have the determination and an experienced design team, no outdoor dream is impossible to create.
